{"id":79316,"date":"2024-03-12T07:48:04","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T07:48:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/royalblue-walrus-190090.hostingersite.com\/?p=79316"},"modified":"2024-03-12T07:48:04","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T07:48:04","slug":"home-digitalmarketing-this-early-bitcoiner-sold-btc-on-ebay-for-a-100-markup-in-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news-ngo.com\/?p=79316","title":{"rendered":"Home   DigitalMarketing   This early Bitcoiner sold BTC on eBay for a 100% markup in&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5115\/14020901318_bb6c173830.jpg\" style=\"max-width:420px;float:left;padding:10px 10px 10px 0px;border:0px;\">\u00a9 Copyright 2019 &#8211; theunionjournal.com<\/p>\n<p>Chris Maurice, CEO of Nigeria-based crypto exchange\u00a0Yellow Card, made his first business venture into the crypto space back in 2015, selling Bitcoin (BTC) on eBay.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We did that for about a week and we did over $40,000 in sales at a 100% markup,&#8221; Maurice told Cointelegraph in an interview. &#8220;We were seeing stars at this point,&#8221; he recounted, describing his euphoria at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The CEO first learned about Bitcoin in 2013 through a friend \u2014 Justin Poiroux, the co-founder of Yellow Card exchange, although Yellow Card was not formed until later, unrelated to the eBay endeavor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While surfing eBay in 2015, Maurice saw BTC selling on the site for triple its going <a href=\"https:\/\/www.renewableenergyworld.com\/?s=market%20rate\">market rate<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Coming up with an idea for profit, Maurice explained,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I called up Justin and I said, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re two relatively smart individuals. I Know how to use eBay, you know what Bitcoin is so let\u2019s make some money,'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the mentioned initial success of BTC sales on eBay, however, the situation started unravelling. &#8220;That\u2019s when I learned what a credit card chargeback is,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;People were just stealing credit cards online, coming to us on eBay and charging the cards,&#8221; he said. &#8220;When PayPal found out, they pulled the money back from us, and then we had already sent the Bitcoin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Of course that was <a href=\"https:\/\/ascknvvs.space\/ways-make-money\/\">How to Make Money Online for Beginners; 60+ Best Ways for<\/a> I also learned just how irreversible Bitcoin is,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Credit cards, not so much.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Credit card chargebacks essentially allow parties to take their funds back after a <a href=\"https:\/\/kdbcvmdq.pw\/website\/\">Making money online with ads<\/a> transaction.
